the delta

Brooklyn, NY

The Delta Collective opened its flagship location in the Cobble Hill neighborhood in 2020. Formerly occupied by the much-beloved Café Pedlar, The Delta provides a supportive space for mothers to grow and connect.

While the interior required a gut renovation, the design pays homage to the building’s Landmark status—the deep brick-red color of the historic metal facade, for example, is carried through in the interior columns. The studio now provides a flexible, elegant space for both private reflection and community events. The building’s prime corner location, combined with high ceilings and expansive windows, means soft light floats in throughout the day; the sun always playing upon the ochre tiles and textured wood finishes.

The moody palette acknowledges the intensity of member’s lives while also inviting them to recharge. A bathroom and coat room occupy the rear of the space, while the front offers a meditative seating area allow for either detachment from or engagement with the lively bustle of Court Street.

The furniture selection and interior design by Solk Architecture combines multiple styles, including Shaker seating and cozy mid-century lounge chairs.
